TrACEES Platform offers access and training for a range of techniques and equipment which can be explored here. The equipment access only opens to users from The University of Melbourne (UoM user) and other university/research institutes (External user) at the moment.

Below is the pathway on how to gain access:
User reads training materials (guideline, safety and equipment).
UoM user completes online “Laboratory Safety” course in TrainMe (click here).
External user may need to attend a safety exam (contacted by the platform).
User submits training request form (click here).

User attends equipment training (including task assessment, lab and equipment induction).

The platform will register user and grant access for the trained equipment.

User books equipment via online booking system (click here).

What is TrainMe?
TrainMe is the University’s training platform and supports all University core compliance modules, health and safety hazard based training. All staff, students and individuals with IT access can log into TrainME using their single sign on credentials via the StaffHub (or click link). It’s strongly recommended Google Chrome when using TrainME. (more info)
Do I have to complete Laboratory Safety course in TrainMe?
Yes. The laboratory is a potentially hazardous place to work or study. The University is committed to ensuring you understand the risks associated with laboratory-related hazards. This online course will provide an overview of the University’s laboratory safety rules and recommended safe work practices.
Do I have to complete a task assessment prior to using the equipment?
Yes. It is always a good practice to plan your experiment task and be fully aware of the risk(s) involved.
